Color correction is what we do when the goal isn't to add color, but to undo one. It takes more time, more patience, and more product than a standard color service, and it's priced accordingly. But brought to the right colorist, almost any hair story can be rewritten.
What Counts as Color Correction
Color correction is any color service where the primary work is fixing an existing color rather than adding a new one. Common scenarios we see every week:
- Box dye disasters — home color that went too dark, too orange, too red, or too green
- Bad balayage or highlights — bands, stripes, over-lightened patches, or brass that never lifted properly
- Color from another salon that missed the mark — right idea, wrong execution
- Grow-out with buildup — years of color that made your hair heavier, darker, or duller than it should be
- Going lighter after being dark for a long time — pulling out permanent color to reveal a lighter base
- Going natural — transitioning off color entirely, blending grow-out so it doesn't feel like a chore
Our Color Correction Services
Consultation
Every color correction starts with an in-person consultation. We look at your hair in natural light, review your color history (bring photos of past color if you have them, box dye labels if you used them), do a strand test if needed, and give you a written plan with a firm price range.
Single-Session Correction
For lighter corrections: toning down brass, softening orange, balancing patchy highlights, blending root grow-out that got too stark. Usually completable in one 3-4 hour visit.
Two-Session Correction
For most box-dye reversals or significant color changes. We lift and tone in visit one, then refine and finish in visit two, usually 2-4 weeks apart. This approach protects the hair from over-processing.
Multi-Session Restoration
For heavily damaged hair, years of dark box dye, or dramatic transformations (dark to platinum, for example). Three or more sessions over 8-12 weeks, with treatment services between visits to rebuild integrity.
